The Bregenzerwald is located in the province of Vorarlberg, within easy from Zurich Airport. Thanks to its location on the northern edge of the Alps, the area is blessed with an exceptional amount of snow and it is possible to ski here until well into the springtime.

The region is full of culture, gourmet food and breathtakingly beautiful landscapes, and, above all is a haven for anyone who is looking to incorporate peace and relaxation into their ski experience. This is definitely not a place for shopaholics or for those seeking a vibrant party atmosphere and late night entertainment.

These extensive ski areas offer a host of amenities amongst its charming landscape. The distances between the skiing areas are pleasantly short. The public bus network is very well developed and the three-valley ski pass includes all buses in order to transfer from one ski area to the other.

The ski resorts of  Mellau – Damüls have been connected with a new six-person chairlift that takes you just over 2,000m. With a wide variety of easy to more challenging pistes making this a particularly good resort for beginners to strong intermediates and for the more advanced skier wanting access to easy off-piste skiing alongside and between pistes. For the snowboarder, the Burton Snowpark is kept in pristine condition and is constantly changing from the beginning to the end of the season. For those in the know, various boxes and rails (Logo and Curve Box, Pipe Rail and Staircase Handrail) have recently been added.

The Au-Schoppernau (Diedamskopf) skiing area is particularly suited to families and beginners with its wide open cruisey runs.  It is well-known for its magnificent mountain panorama, excellent mountain huts and the innovative snow sports school, with kids’ adventure land. Although there are a few curiously steep at times red and blues.
This area in particular has good terrain for boarding and freestyle skiers including the Sajas Diedamspark, considered to be one of the best terrain parks in the region and a major draw for boarders and freestyle skiers.

There is ample opportunity for off-piste skiing or experience ski touring with a guide, staying 3 or three nights in a mountain hut. Different levels are catered for, whether this is your first foray or an aficionado, at a price that won’t break the bank.
Non-ski activities in the region include winter, Snowshoe and Nordic walking, ice skating and tobogganing. Or for an altogether more relaxed activity why not take a horse-drawn carriage,
through the beautiful countryside whilst enjoying the stunning views of the snow capped mountains
